Still, Steve feels SF should give Jimmy Garoppolo another week to heal and start Mullens over CJ Beathard who almost led the team to a late-game comeback win on Sunday night:

I don’t want to put that pressure on him but he’s got to understand that if we’re struggling offensively that as a head coach I need to make that change to see if we can create a spark. I think if you pull Nick and not start him right now then you’ve crushed him.”
